Wimbledon 2011: Rafael Nadal v Novak Djokovic

             NOVAK DJOKOVIC IS WIMBLEDON CHAMPION

so there we have it, Novak Djokovic is the first man to beat Rafael Nadal at Wimbledon for 20 games and the first player to beat him in a grand slam final besides Roger Federer...just as he put it, it's not been a bad few days in the office for him. He was outstanding this afternoon, deserved the win and warrants his place as world No 1. Must admit I'm delighted it didn't go to a fifth...the Wimbledon blog is over for another year. Thanks for joining us over the last fortnight hope you enjoyed it.
Novak Djokovic: It's really hard to describe this. It's the best day of my life it's the tennis tournament I have dreamed of winning. Thank you all for coming and making this day even more special. When you're playing the best player in the world - Nadal - I had to be on top of my game and I think I have played the best match on grass ever. I have to congratulate him for a great tournament. Couple of good days in the office yes. It's incredible to have the people I love most in the world here with me on Centre Court thank you for supporting me. It's always a pleasure to play against a great champion. Thank you and see you next year.

Rafael Nadal: Congratulations Novak for today and an amazing season. Wimbledon for me has always been the most special tournament, when I won for the first time the emotion was very high so I know how that feels for Novak today. Thank you for the organisation and everyone who makes this tournament possible. It's a dream to have been in the final but it wasn't my day. I will try again next year.
Dkokovic receives his trophy and his face says it all, his mum and dad are jumping up and down and who can blame them. An incredible year for the Serb, beaten just once by Roger Federer at the French Open he ends Wimbledon as champion and tomorrow will become world No 1.
Enormous applause for Rafael Nadal, first time in a grand slam final he has lost to anyone but Roger Federer. A tough moment for him.
Interesting way to celebrate, I'm fairly sure Djokovic has just eaten the grass on Centre Court. His name is on the roll of honour, what a moment for the Serb.
