Pope faces prosecution for not wearing seat belt

Pope Benedict XVI is facing prosecution for 'breaking the law' while on a drive in Germany. Although the Popemobile was driven at snail's pace but, according to a German lawsuit, that didn't give his holiness an excuse for not wearing a seatbelt.

An unnamed person has filed the lawsuit against the leader of the Roman Catholic Church for breaking the law by not wearing the seat belt during a visit to the city of Freiburg in September.

Video evidence would prove Benedict XVI was not wearing his seatbelt 'for more than hour', the unnamed plaintiff's lawyer Johannes Sundermann reportedly said.

He faced a fine of around 30 pounds if convicted, Mr Sundermann added.

"The Pope is head of state of the Vatican, so it is highly likely he will be granted diplomatic immunity," the Daily Mail quoted another German lawyer as saying.

One hundred thousands well-wishers welcomed the Pope as he drove around Freiburg; at one point, he stopped to bless a child.

Develop apps for Aakash, get rewarded

Develop apps for Aakash, get rewarded
The world's cheapest tablet is on way to become a potential money spinner for students and social networking startups. Datawind, the maker of Aakash, a low-cost tablet, has announced a contest for students wherein their best applications will be embedded in the Ubislate - the commercial version of the $35 tablet likely to be launched next year.

"We hope to create an entrepreneurial culture among the student community. Students think unconventionally unlike large corporates or software development firms. If they design an useful application which is selected, it would be pre-burned in millions of tablets to be shipped out by us," said Suneet Singh Tuli, chief executive of Datawind said at the IIM Lucknow's Entrepreneurial Summit.

About three lakh pre-sales booking have been received for Ubislate, expected to be priced at Rs 3,000 at retail stores. The Ubislate is expected to be bundled with a Rs 99 data plan for internet access.

Tuli added that while it could be a money-spinner for a student who will get a royalty from the usage of application on the tablet, they would also gain by offering a useful application to their users. About Rs 1 lakh each will be awarded to five students who come up with a winning application for the world's cheapest tablet, which runs on Google's Android operating system, version 2.2.

Social sector organisations also stand to gain from the low-cost tablet. India's software lobby, Nasscom, also announced a partnership with Datawind Monday whereby it will distribute 200 tablets to non-government organisations (NGOs).

To boot, Nasscom Foundation has partnered with Datawind and announced a contest wherein 10 NGOs will have an opportunity to win 20 tablets each, mainly to improve their operations and programme implementation.

To win these tablets, the social organisations will have to showcase how best they can leverageAakash tablet for promoting education, health and livelihood.

Bigg Boss's Sunny Leone is bisexual

Porn star Sunny Leone, who entered the Bigg Boss house recently, has claimed that she discovered she was bisexual when she was 18, but says she prefers men.

The entry of an X-rated star has made season five of Bigg Boss its most controversial season ever.

Leone, now a citizen of US, was born in Canada as Karen Malhotra on May 13, 1981 to Sikh parents.

She was sent to a Catholic school because her parents thought a public school would be unsafe for her.

By the time she was 14 her family had moved from Canada, to Fort Gratiot in Michigan before finally settling in Lake Forest, California, the Mirror reported.

Leone was training to be a paediatric nurse in Orange County when she was introduced to agent John Stevens by an exotic dancer friend.

He, in turn, introduced her to Jay Allen, a photographer for lad’s mag Penthouse, in fact the second half of her porn name ‘Leone’ was chosen by Bob Guccione, the former owner of Penthouse magazine.

She moved into hardcore pornography in 2005 when she signed a three-year contract with Vivid Entertainment.

Her first film was entitled Sunny and her second film, Virtual Vivid Girl Sunny Leone, won her an AVN adult industry award.

Despite her chosen field being far from family-friendly, Leone, who presently lives in Hollywood, hopes to retire one day, get married and start a family.

Yoga, Potter are evil: Vatican exorcist

Vatican’s chief exorcist has claimed that practicing yoga and reading ‘Harry Potter’ brings evil. Father Gabriel Amorth, who has carried out more than 70,000 exorcisms in the past 25 years after being appointed by the late Pope John Paul II, surprised delegates at a conference by revealing his dislike for yoga and ‘Harry Potter’.

“Practising yoga brings evil as does reading Harry Potter. They may both seem innocuous but they both deal with magic and that leads to evil,” the Daily Mail quoted him as saying.

“Yoga is the Devil’s work. You thing you are doing it for stretching your mind and body but it leads to Hinduism. All these oriental religions are based on the false belief of reincarnation,” he said.

Speaking on the subject of People And Religion at a fringe event at the Umbria Film Festival in Terni, Father Amorth spoke of his distaste for JK Rowling’s young wizard.

“People think it is an innocuous book for children but it’s about magic and that leads to evil. In Harry Potter the Devil is at work in a cunning and crafty way, he is using his extraordinary powers of magic and evil,” he said.

“Satan is always hidden and the thing he desires more than anything is for people to believe he does not exist. He studies each and everyone of us and our tendencies towards good and evil and then he tempts us.

“My advice to young people would be to watch out for nightclubs because the path is always the same: alcohol, sex, drugs and Satanic sects,” he added.

This is not the first time that the 85-year-old has raised eyebrows with his forthright views, as last year he had said that the ongoing child sex scandals rocking the Catholic Church were evidence that “the Devil was at work in the Vatican”.

Rahul Dravid completes 13,000 Test runs

Rahul Dravid became only the second batsman in Test cricket to score 13,000 runs achieving the feat on the third day of the third Test against the West Indies at theWankhede stadium in Mumbai on Thursday.

Dravid got to the milestone when he reached 21 with a superb cover drive off West Indies captain Darren Sammy that went for four.

The 38-year-old Dravid, who scored 1258 runs in 15 Tests at an average of 53 this season, pulled off six hundreds during the year.

I'm still a bad girl: Jolie

Actress Angelina Jolie, who experimented with hard drugs and self-harming during her teenage years, says she still has those traits.

"I'm still a bad girl. I still have that side of me. It's just in its place now. It belongs to Brad. Or our adventures," femalefirst.co.uk quoted the 36-year-old as saying.

Jolie, known for her wild past, also feels "lucky" to have not died young.

"I went through heavy, darker times and I survived them. I didn't die young, so I'm very lucky. There are other artists and people who didn't survive certain things," she said.

"People can imagine I did the most dangerous and the worst. For many reasons, I shouldn't be here. You just think (about) those times when you came too close to too many dangerous things, too many chances taken, too far," she added.

Lady Gaga's perfume to smell like 'An expensive hooker'

Lady Gaga says her new perfume may have been based on blood and semen, but it smells like an 'expensive hooker'.

Coty Beauty, which is the firm behind the fragrance, has not yet confirmed the details behind the name of the pop queen's creation.

But given Gaga's fondness for the Monster association as her fans are called Little Monsters, and has given herself the moniker Mother Monster, as well as tattooed the name on her arm, so the name seems a likely one.

The 25-year-old singer signed the license in September 2010, and allegedly requested that the scent smell of "blood and semen."

The 'Born This Way' hitmaker's request was for the fragrance to be based on the molecular structure of the bodily fluids, not the actual aromas themselves.

"You get the after-feeling of sex from the semen and the blood is primal," the Daily Mail quoted Gaga as saying.

The blood element is based on the molecular make-up of the star's own blood.

"It was taken out of my own blood sample so it's a sense of having me on your skin," she said.

"I wanted to extract sort of the feeling and sense of blood and semen from molecular structures, so that's where [the rumours] came from.

"That is in the perfume but it doesn't smell like that.

"Actually the perfume smells like an expensive hooker," she added.

Now, try on clothes in 3D with Virtual Tailor

Online shopping experience has now escalated to yet another level with the introduction of new software called 'virtual tailor', which boasts of being able to take your vital statistics in less than three minutes.

The software allows the users to 'try on' clothes in 3-D image of themselves to determine if the outfit suits them.

It can also make recommendations for size and shape to ensure that the shoppers don't make fashion blunders.

The software works by scanning the body as the user stands in front of his webcam at home.

By holding up a familiar object like a CD or DVD, the software can accurately make exact measurements and then upload a 3-D template of the shopper's body.

According to Asaf Moses, chief executive of Upcload, a database of around 100,000 people is then used to recommend clothing, which might suit their size, shape and age.

"It means we can suggest clothing ideas to people that they may never have thought of before," the Daily Mail quoted him as saying.

"The program is using your body shape to suggest genuinely new ideas to people rather than simply suggesting on the basis of your historic buying pattern. It is like having your best friend with you."

All the product characteristics like textile material and consistency are also taken into consideration before making a final recommendation for the proper size and fit.

Moses said that he came across this idea after he had to exchange online clothing purchases too often.

Women wearing skirts at workplace more successful

Women who wear skirts in the workplace are more likely to make a good impression and get a promotion, according to a new study.

Professor Karen Pine, who co-led the research at the University of Hertfordshire, said that the results contradicted previous studies that suggested women should dress more like men to succeed in business.

Scientists showed 300 people pictures of women dressed in navy blue skirt suits and pant suits. The clothing was identical in everyway except for the bottoms.

Within three seconds, the majority perceived that the women wearing skirts were more confident, successful and powerful than their trouser clad sisters.

The results concluded that the option women have to wear such attire creates a competitive advantage within the workplace.

"People are judged on their overall head-to-toe appearance and the fundamental role that a dress plays in creating a positive first impression cannot be underestimated," the Sydney Morning Herald quoted Professor Pine as telling the Daily Mail.

"Women still have to maintain an identity that balances professionalism with attractiveness. The skirt suit may achieve that balance without appearing provocative," he added.
